Stoke Director Confirms Foster Link

Stoke City's director of football John Rudge has confirmed Manchester United are keeping tabs on their 3rd choice goalkeeper, Ben Foster.

Whilst watching his son play for Wrexham in the LDV Vans Final triumph last season at the Millennium Stadium, Ferguson was impressed with the on-loan goalkeeper.

United are fairly limited on goalkeepers and with Luke Steele set to be loaned out again, a move for Foster could well be on the cards. However, the 22-year-old's Old Trafford action could be fairly limited following the signing of Edwin van der Sar.

Director of football at The Britannia Stadium John Rudge confirmed the rumours, stating: "Manchester United have shown interest in Ben after Alex watched him play for Wrexham in the LDV Vans Trophy final last season.

"Obviously, they've just signed Edwin van der Sar and they've also got Tim Howard at the club and we'll have to see if any progress will be made in the coming weeks."

This adds to agent Lee Payne's comments regarding his client Foster. "There has been interest in Ben, but we cannot comment on any possible move," said Payne. "Obviously Ben, like any player in the world, would jump at the chance to join Manchester United - but that is all we can say at this moment."
