United to Snatch Ferretti?

Sir Alex Ferguson is keeping tabs on Italian striker Andreas Ferretti, who is on trial with Cardiff City, as the Scotsman looks to freshen up the Reserve team squad for next season.

The Championship side's chairman Sam Hammam revealed Fergie told City's new manager Dave Jones about the former Parma youngster's talents.

"Sir Alex Ferguson told us about Andreas - he is a terrific young player" said Hammam.

Ferretti has impressed with the Bluebirds and netted early on in their pre-season friendly with Hamilton Academicals recently.

Ferguson could be tempted to make a swoop for the striker and then loan him out to the South Wales club in order gain first-team action. A move to Old Trafford may be influenced by former team-mate Giuseppe Rossi, one of Ferreti's best friends.
