Agent: Ferdinand Will Stay

Rio Ferdinand's agent Pini Zahavi has insisted his client will be playing as a Red Devil next season amid much speculation linking the England international away from Old Trafford.

Ferdinand's reluctance to sign a new contract with United has angered Manchester United supporters, who have booed the defender in pre-season friendly games against Clyde and Peterborough.

Zahavi has defended the England international, claiming he will not quit. "Rio will be playing for United in this coming season - there is absolutely no doubt about that," he confirmed.

"He has said he wants to stay and I know for sure that United do not want to sell him."

Zahavi continued to say negotiations between United and Ferdinand will commend after the club's pre-season tour of Asia. "There are no new negotiations going on at the moment but there is no need to panic," he added.

"When United come back to us we will talk again, although I don't know when that will be."
