Jones Joins Preston

Manchester United youngster David Jones has signed for Championship side Preston North End on a one-year load deal to gain first team experience.

England captain David Beckham once spent a spell on-loan at Deepdale and went on to win Premiership titles and a Champions League medal, something Jones hopes to emulate.

The 20-year-old is keen to prove himself as a Red Devil but wants to help Preston win promotion into the Premiership, something they nearly did last season.

"I hope to improve individually, give the team some success and hopefully get Preston into the Premiership," he said.

"I spoke to Sir Alex Ferguson when I came back after the month break and he was keen for me to go on loan somewhere this season and Preston is the perfect club for me.

"Beckham has come here before and hopefully I can do what he did, because he did well here and went back and had a big impact at Manchester United and hopefully I can repeat that. He's achieved so much in the game and it would be great to do the same."

Jones joins goalkeeper Ben Foster on-loan in the Championship after the former Stoke stopper completed a move to Watford yesterday.
