United Deny Owen Talk

Manchester United are refusing to comment on the strong speculation linking England and Real Madrid striker Michael Owen with a move to Old Trafford.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has reiterated his intentions to stay at Old Trafford despite tempting links to La Liga giants Barcelona and Real

Sir Alex Ferguson declined to chat about the situation at a press conference regarding United's Champions League Qualifying fixture with Debrecen.

United's communications director Phil Townsend also rebuffed the rumours, stating: "We have had no contact with Real Madrid over Michael Owen."

Real have admitted that Newcastle United are very interested in landing the England striker, who has fallen way down the pecking order in Spain following the recent signings of Julio Baptista and Robinho.

However, if Untied make an approach it will seem very difficult for Newcastle to land Owen.
