Darren Fletcher has insisted he will be happy with slim victories on a regular basis rather than finding the net many times in one game and drawing the next.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has reiterated his intentions to stay at Old Trafford despite tempting links to La Liga giants Barcelona and Real

Fletcher claimed Chelsea lifted the Premiership last season courtesy of 1-0 victories and have even recorded two 1-0 wins against Wigan and Arsenal so far this season.

''While people will say we should have had more goals against Villa, 1-0 still gets you the three points,'' said the Scotsman. ''Look at Chelsea last season - they had 10 or 11 1-0 wins and we'll be quite happy if we win every game 1-0."

The Red Devils dominated Saturday lunchtime's win over Aston Villa but were restricted to just the one goal thanks to Ruud van Nistelrooy.

He continued: ''We said keep patient, keep playing our passing football and a goal would come and that proved to be the case.

''But we were always confident we can score and although it was only one, 1-0 wins you the match.''
