A number of Manchester United players helped their countries in World Cup Qualifying action on Saturday as Germany 2006 edges ever so closer.

ManUtdWeb brings you a brief look at each match with a Red Devil involved:

Wales 0 - 1 England

As previously reported on ManUtdWeb - Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Kieran Richardson all featured in England's triumph at the Millennium Stadium as Ryan Giggs captained the Welsh in front of a 70,000 crowd. Joe Cole grabbed the only goal of the game in the second half as Sven Goran Eriksson can book himself a peaceful sleep tonight after erasing memories of the embarrassing 4-1 loss to Denmark two weeks ago. Armenia 0 - 1 Netherlands

A single Ruud van Nistelrooy goal was the difference between these two nations. Edwin Van der Sar did his job in the Oranje goal, keeping a clean sheet. Marco van Basten's strong Dutch side found it difficult to break the Armenians down and will be looking to improve on their performance.

Scotland 1 - 1 Italy

Scotland can be delighted with themselves by not giving into the Italians. Darren Fletcher played his part in midfield. Kenny Miller opened the scoring just 13 minutes in but the Italians hit back through Fabio Grosso with 14 minutes to go.

Paraguay 1 - 0 Argentina

Despite already qualifying for the World Cup, Argentina crashed away to Paraguay courtesy of a Roque Santa Cruz goal. The home side took the lead early in the first half. Unfortunately, United fan favourite Gabriel Heinze was dismissed for a second bookable offence ten minutes after the re-start.

Portugal 6 - 0 Luxembourg

Cristiano Ronaldo was involved in Portugal's comprehensive 6-0 thrashing of Luxembourg. A double from both Sabrosa Simao and Pedro Pauleta helped Portugal clinch 3 qualifying points.
