Spector Remaining Patient at Charlton

Manchester United's young American defender is eager to learn the ropes of first-team football on-loan at Charlton Athletic, who've made a fine start to the Premiership season.

Spector has been given a few chances as a Red Devil, making appearances at left-back while Gabriel Heinze was on Olympic duty for Argentina last year but has yet to parade his full ability.

Alan Curbishley has yet to deploy the 19-year-old in his side this season, but Spector is remaining patient.. "My main priority is to break into the Charlton side right now - and that's not going to be easy with the form the guys have been in so far this season."

He continued: "The team's doing well right now, but I like that because it increases competition and that brings out the best in you. It was disappointing to get injured after a good pre-season, but I'm fully fit and ready to try and get into the Charlton squad.

"United are a difficult team to stay in because of the huge talent there. Still, I'm only 19 and I have time on my side, and I have plenty of great players to look up to and learn from.
