Rio Set for England Axe

Friday's papers claim that Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand will receive the axe in the England defence to make way for Arsenal's Sol Campbell.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has reiterated his intentions to stay at Old Trafford despite tempting links to La Liga giants Barcelona and Real

Campbell only just returned for the Gunners due to injury but scored an impressive brace on his return match against Everton in the Premiership a few weeks ago and is likely to partner John Terry against Austria tomorrow.

Ferdinand meanwhile has admittedly been off-form this season with some sloppy defending which recently lead to Fulham nearly snatching a league victory over the Red Devils.
