Fergie: "I Signed Park Over Owen"

Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he opted to sign Ji-Sung Park instead of making a move for now Newcastle striker Michael Owen in the summer.

Ferguson claimed the South Korean ace, who's been a breath of fresh air to United's midfield, is a player he'd rather sign over Owen as he's the future of the club.

Fergie was often pressured into signing former Real Madird striker Michael Owen before the transfer deadline. He explained: "People questioned why we weren't interested in Owen, Michael's a very good player, but we've set our team up in a certain way.

"We bought Ji-Sung Park in the summer. If we had wanted Owen instead of Park, that could have been an option. But we really fancied Park.

"We're really pleased to have got him. He represents the future.

"He's going to be a terrific player and we're really pleased we've got him.
