Pallister: United Miss Keane

Former Manchester United defender Gary Pallister claims Manchester United have been missing the services of skipper Roy Keane this season.

 
Irishman Keane is currently nursing another injury and has witnessed poor games without him such as the 0-0 draw with Lille and last weekend's diabolical 4-1 defeat to Middlesbrough. 

Pallister said: "I think, at United, if you're not winning games and at the top of the league, you're always expecting to be criticised.

"Chelsea have raised the bar and changed the face of football really. There's no limit to the money they can spend. If they want to buy a player for £30 million, £40 million or £50 million, then if that's what it takes, the chairman will do it.

"They look at times, when it's getting tough, that a little bit they lack the qualities of Roy Keane to scream and shout. To give people a kick up the backside when they need it.

"When Roy's not there, you expect it from Gary Neville. When he's not there, you wonder if anybody is there to take over the mantle.

"I keep expecting them to put a run together and that was a huge blow at the weekend, losing to Boro and the manner in which they did lose."
