Brian McClair feels his crop of United youngsters have the ability to break into the senior squad. The starlets will be hoping to impress as the Red Devils prepare for the F.A Youth Cup campaign to get underway against Birmingham City.

As Manchester United's youngsters prepare for the third round of the F.A Youth Cup, Brian McClair has offered his players the best possible motivation ahead of the tie against Birmingham City.

McClair is confident that many of his current crop of players have the potential to break into the first-team and feels that the Youth Cup gives them the platform to really impress. Frazier Campbell and Johnny Evans are two of the names thought to be verging on a first-team opportunity and the pair will be desperate to prove a real point to United's coaching staff.

"It is very relevant a lot of players have come out of our Youth Cup-winning sides and gone on to do very well in their careers." said the Scotsman.

"It is the one time of year when we prepare the youth team to win rather than perform and hopefully they can do themselves justice."

Victory over the Blues will see United visit Sunderland in the fourth round of the highly-regarded competition.
