MUFC transfer target Steve Davis has signed a new contract with Aston Villa, committing his future to the Midlands outfit under improved terms. The 20-year-old was rumoured to be top of Sir Alex Ferguson's January sales shortlist.

Sir Alex Ferguson looks to have missed out on transfer target Steve Davis. The Aston Villa midfielder has signed a new three-year contract with Aston Villa and is thought to be unmoved by reported interest from Manchester United.

The 20-year-old has been on sparkling form for a Villa side who are struggling for consistency this term. The club have rewarded the player with improved terms, and he has revealed his delight at securing his future with the Midlands outfit.

"Everyone has been so helpful since I joined and that is why I have committed myself to the club. In view of what happened since I made my first appearance in the Premiership it was not hard for me to sign." said the Northern Irish international, who will now look to help David O'Leary's side pull away from the Premiership drop-zone.
