Welsh forward Craig Bellamy feels his Blackburn Rovers side are more than capable of knocking United out of the League Cup. The two sides do battle in the semi-final of the Carling-sponsored competition, with Mark Hughes bringing his on-form Rovers to Old Trafford for the first-leg on Wednesday.

Craig Bellamy is in an optimistic mood ahead of Blackburn Rovers' upcoming League Cup semi-final against United.

The Cup action continues for Sir Alex Ferguson's side after the disappointment of Saturday's 0-0 draw at Burton Albion, and Welsh international Bellamy is confident that an improving Rovers side can unleash more woe on the Red Devils.

"I'm really looking forward to the United game now," said the versatile forward. "We're not only getting results but we're also playing well and I think we've really got a chance."

"I've played in the Scottish FA Cup final and was part of the Newcastle team who reached the Uefa Cup semis two seasons ago, but I've never played in an English final before. The two games against United give me an opportunity to address that."

Led by former United star Mark Hughes, Rovers have been in fantastic form of late. Saturday's 3-0 demolition of Queens Park Rangers in the F.A Cup was their fifth straight win, whilst they have only lost three of their last twelve games.

Pundits are even talking up Blackburn's credentials for a European push with Wednesday's first-leg at Old Trafford looking a real test for MUFC.
