Scholes Out for Season

Manchester United will be without midfielder Paul Scholes for the rest of the season. The ex-English international is suffering with an eye injury and will be sidelined until the start of the new campaign.

Manchester United playmaker Paul Scholes looks set to miss the rest of the season with an eye problem.

The former England international, now retired from international football, has been out of action since suffering blurred vision since United’s 2-2 Premiership draw at Birmingham City. He will now be out of action for the rest of the campaign whilst medics clear up the problem.

A club statement explained: "Paul Scholes has a medical condition affecting the vision in his right eye.”It is not a football-related injury.

”This has been confirmed by a number of specialists who have all agreed that he needs to rest for a period of three months. Obviously, it is a disappointment for Paul and Manchester United that he will miss the rest of the season. We look forward to having him back for pre-season training."

The news obviousley comes as a blow, whilst the pessimists are saying that an ageing Scholes may never pull on the MUFC jersey again. With the star out for the rest of the season at least, Sir Alex Ferguson is rumoured to be stepping up his search for a new midfielder as the January transfer window enters its final week.
