Four signings, (News Update)

Today saw a very busy day as Harriers made four signings. Tomorrow sees the final friendly against Hereford United, down at Edgar Street. Read on for the latest.

NEWS UPDATE

Well today has finally seen some proper transfer activity at Aggborough. Manager Ian Britton has made four of the trialists permanent Harriers. Firstly, ex Wolves man Kenny Coleman agreed a one year contract, after an impressive pre season. I certainly think Kenny looks a lot sharper than when he was here on loan last season. He isn’t a centre half really but he looks OK at wing back or full back. Young Kenny was followed by another former Wanderer and Irishman. Ireland under 20 captain Graham Ward has also signed a 12 month deal. In what I’ve seen of him I have been impressed. The third signing is young Nick Heath, who has earned his first professional contract after coming through the youth team. In fact he has already made his debut, in last seasons away defeat at Macclesfield. The final man through the door is ex Swindon and Coventry centre half Adam Willis. Willis, who played against us last season for Swindon, in the LDV Trophy has signed up for the one season. Like all of the previously mentioned, I have been impressed with him and particularly his spectacular clearances, which you like me may have noticed. The JJJ, like all Kidder fans, would like to wish the new lads all the best.

Andy Bishop, to return ?

So, that leaves just one man with a decision hanging over him, and that’s striker John Williams. Williams, who has been carrying an injury this week, could feature in tomorrows final friendly at Hereford United. Who knows maybe Britt has got some other lined up. One who could be on his way, is Andy Bishop, who was an unused sub in our midweek defeat to Walsall. One lad who did well in that game for the Saddlers, was another Kiddie target. I was well impressed by Gary Birch but in scoring both goals, has probably played his way into Walsall’s first team plans. The Walsall game was also the last for Kyle Lightbourne, who was told by Britton, he does not figure in our plans. He joined earlier casualties, Narada and Craig Wilding. One interesting thing I saw on teletext today, is that Lincoln City wont be offering former Shrewsbury man, Nigel Jemson a contract. Although, a good player, I don’t think he is the type were looking for in an ideal world.

So its off to Edgar Street tomorrow for our final pre season game, before next weeks big kick off against Mansfield. I would imagine the game against the Bulls will see Britt put out virtually our starting eleven for the season. Who knows, we might see a surprise or two. Well lets hope so, we definitely need another one strikers, possibly two. Maybe it will be John Williams, an a short term deal, and Andy Bishop on loan. Another thought, which I have said before, is clubs above us will be releasing trialists as well and maybe one or two could find their way to Aggborough, before August 9th.
