Harriers kept up their opening day unbeaten run against Mansfield today.Bomber Bo Henriksen dispatched his ordnance on the Stags. This was warmly received by Miss BJ, my daughter, who made her Kiddy debut today and loves Bo!
HARRIERS 2 MANSFIELD 1 A BREIF REPORT
Harriers kept up their opening day unbeaten record in the football league with this hard fought victory over Mansfield Town. In an even game Harriers certainly had a lot of defending to do and to be honest it was a very close call to who would win this encounter. Luckily for Kiddy, Bomber Bo Henriksen still knows where the back of the net is. This after a barren run in an injury hit pre season, the Carpet Bomber delivered some of his considerable ordnance on to the Stags, when he fired Kiddy 1-0 on 15 minutes. From then on it was mainly Mansfield who did most of the attacking and Brocky had to be at his best to keep them out.
Bo, brace today
It was more of the same in the second half as Mansfield kept up the pressure. The Stags eventually drew level with an expert free kick by Wayne Corden, much to the delight of their large travelling following. To be honest I expect us to wilt under the intense heat and pressure but we kept our heads. Andy Bishop was replaced by big m John Williams whose presence helped a lot. On 74 minutes Kiddy grabbed back the lead. This followed a hand ball, with Coleman’s shot being handled by Clarke. This can be seen as a red card offence but the ref, after a long delay, showed a yellow, much to the Kidder faithful’s anger. Why take so long when you only going to book a player ? The delay didn’t help us, that’s for sure. However on possibly the hottest day for many a year, Bo boy kept his cool, and slotted home in front of the home end. Mansfield did try and come back but Kiddy held on for a welcome winning start to the campaign.Just a quick thank you to Bomber Bo. Today saw the debut of my 4 year old daughter at Aggboro and she’s Bo mad. I decided to meet her at half time as I’m sure you parents out there know, it is difficult to know if they’ll like it. Fortunately she did and luckily Bo kept his cool to score that pen. Especially after I’d built him up and also spent a long time explaining what a penalty was! Sorry if the report isn’t the best, but I feel as if I’ve been commentating on the game already!
Brocky, man of the match
JUMPJET VERDICT
to be fair, we were quite lucky to get the three points today. Brocky was awarded the sponsors man of the match, and I’d got with that.
