harriers losing streak contunued with a single goal defeat at the Mc Alpine Stadium. Depsite the lossit was an improved Harriers that left the field. KJ shares his thoughts and experiences of the night.

Well it was quite an enjoyable evening at The impressive Mc Alpine Stadium despite the result. Normally I travel to games by car but this time I went on the coach. After a uneventful trip up the M6 and then M62 we finally hit the outskirts of Huddersfield to be greeted by the Police, what then followed was quite unbelievable. The Supporters coach was treated to a presidential style escort to the ground, all 30 odd of us on the coach. To be fair Huddersfield have got it right when it comes to stewarding and possibly it was to protect us more than us being the trouble causers.
So into the Stadium and, as usual lately the pre match vibe wasn’t good. Not that there was an air of despondency more realism, every one wants Harriers to turn things round but Huddersfield didn’t seem like the place. Early one and the Terriers are on the attack and it doesn’t look good. Sure enough, they do take the lead, after the defence fail to clear, the ball pings around the box before eventually being put in from close range. Harriers then do start to look a bit better and Bo seems to have a tiny bit more confidence back. Benno tries his luck from distance without luck and then we finally do carve out an opening. Bo uses his skill on the wing and sets up Joh Williams, unfortunately the big man is way off target. At the other end Huddersfield do look dangerous but not unbeatable.
The second half follows a similar pattern. Bo again cuts in and fires in a shot which their keeper saves. Finally Harriers do get a real good chance. A Stamps free kick is met by the head of Danny Williams right in front of goal. Danny heads it down but unfortunately the ball bounces up high and wide. Its just one of those things really, if he’d have just let it hit him in the face it would have probably gone in. from then on it looked like our luck was going to be out. Huddersfield did have another goal ruled our for offside and did test Brocky a few times but there was to be no more score.
So an improved display but in the end the same result. The talk of management changes and relegation to the Conference are still on everyone’s lips. Lets hope we stay up, we have come a long way and it would be a real shame if the dream was to die. However the dream lives on, after all its only October.
Finally, speaking as a fan who has endured such non league grounds as Runcorn and alike, it was really something to visit grounds such as the Mc Alpine. As we arrived on the outskirts of Huddersfield you could see the Mc Alpine from miles away, all lit up. It did make me think we had reached a final or something but hey they’re in the same league as us, and despite losing, we could fell a bit down that we didn’t nick a draw. The important thing now is to ensure we remain in the league. Otherwise some team will visit Aggboro next season and think they’ve reached a final as well.

the good news today is that JJ Melligan has returned to Harriers on a months loan. Of course JJ is probably the best ever loan signing in the history of the club and enjoyed a super spell last season when he scored 12 goals. Welcome back JJ.The word is that Britt is also on the lookout for a striker, Mr Collymore pherhaps ? That would be good but unrealistic.
