KJ reflects on the terrific, tantalising and touret like (my words about the ref) taming of the Terriers. But are we safe yet ?????
Sleeping a little easier ?
So after the fine win over Huddersfield, Harriers now move up to the promised land of 50 points. Is this total enough to preserve our league status ? Well, not quite. There are so many teams in and around the 40/50 points mark that Harriers are not quite safe yet. yes it would take a terrible run to see us down but I dont think we can take the foot off the gas quite yet. I think 3 more points would definately do it, maybe even 1 or 2.
Still, it looks a lot better now after the unlikley win over the Terriers. After taking the lead I was still very mindfull of a comeback by the 3rd place team. MY worries increased more so when Ian Foster was red carded for clipping Sodje's ear. At the time i was incensed with the referee. Perhaps not for the actual incident but more for allowing it to happen by not awarding us a free kick. The actual clipping of the former Stevenage man did merit a red card, although Mr Ryan's display after that did little to impress me. When thinking of Sodje I always recall a battle he had with our own Ian Olney, when Sodje was at Stevenage. To be honest he is a cult figure, if he plays for you, you love him but the opposition will always hate him. Mainly down to his apperance really, a bit like our former striker Bo Henrisken. Anyway, back to Olney and I remember the former Villa man giving him a torrid time. He trod on his toes and managed to knee SOdje in the back whilst winning a header. No doubt Sodje learnt a harsh lesson that night.
So back to the Huddersfield win and a thought for you. Perhaps the sending off helped us ? Many times this season we have sqaundered a lead but in probably our toughest test we managed to keep them out. I think the Terriers will still go up though. Perhaps they got over confident when we were reduced to 10 men. I'm sure they could play better than they did and maybe they could claim to have desrved a point with their late barage. However, given we were a man down and played superbly I doubt anyone could complain.
so are we safe now on 50 points ? vote in our new poll.
