Harriers line up

Brief report

Harriers boss Jan Molby made some changes for the visit of Boston Utd. Stuart Brock was back in goal, after John Danby failed to overcome a knee injury and Adbou Sall returned after suspension along with Scott Rickards who was given a rare start.

Harriers started brightly and John Williams missed a fine chance following a corner, he managed to direct Hintons downward header over from very close in. The game was quite competitive condsidering both teams had little to play for. Harriers were having the better of the chances, Scott Stamps saw an ambitous volley easily saved by Bastock who then saved from Parrish who had broken clear, with John WIlliams missing the rebound.

Harriers were a bit lucky when they took the lead. Simon Brown who was enjoying a typical energetic display, turned and shot from the edge of the area. The ball hit the post and rebounded out, unfortunately for the Pilgrims, the ball bounced off The Collina lookalike keeper and into the net to put Kidder in the lead. Boston's best effort was a Noble free kick which deflected out for a corner via the crossbar, and Brock clawed a close range effort over the bar, whilst for Harriers, Mark Yates had two long range efforts saved.

HT 1-0

The 2nd half was played out without much incident. There were a few rash challenges by both sides, with John WIlliams and Scott Stamps both being booked. The ref of today, Joe Ross, had a reasonable game adn he booked players for bookable challenges, which was acceptable, on different days, we may have seen a red card or two. Harriers second arrived in the last 20 minutes which wrapped up their 1st FL win over Boston. Matt Gadsby went on a great run to the edge of the Boston penalty area, he then nearly lost  the ball, but a tackle regained it and he fed John Willaims on the right. Big John then curled in a superb left foot shot to guarantee the points for Kidder. Not much action after that really, the burly Jones headed off target for United and Sean Parrish, the sponsors man of the match, had a shot which went close. Late on, Young Chris Mc Hale came on for his Harriers and his League debut.

FT2-0

So a reasonable display by Harriers who fully deserved the 3 pts. With many of the out of contact players in action, they will have given boss Jan Molby food for thought. This week, decisions are expected on their futures and the JJJ will update you and give our opinions.

16th place.

Harriers finished the season in 16th place on 55 points, same points as Bristol Rovers but with worse goal difference. No complaints really and the main aim was survival. The same position that we finished in out debut league season in 2000/2001.
