Plenty of news at Aggboro as Harriers report back for training this week.Kidder sign a defender,chase a striker,and the Carling Cup draw. Still no midfielder news, maybe Jan's after Ray Parlour on a "cash in hand" deal !
Transfer news
Harriers this week announced the signing of Torquay Utd defender, Reuben Hazell. The former Villa apprentice has signed a 2 year deal at Aggboro after turning down a deal at Plainmoor. The player apparently wanted to move back to his Birmingham roots. Could be a useful signing.
Harriers reported back to training on Monday this week and included many trialists. Some are youngsters but there are a few familar names. Former players, Ian Foster and Richie Appleby are reported to be training with the club, whilst former Wolves (&many others) man, Lee Mills is also training and is a Molby target. The tall front man was released from the defunct Telford Utd, having spent last season at the Bucks Head. At 34, he would provide some experience up front, and scored 9 goals for Telford last season.
Harriers have many young trialists at the moment. These include (former clubs in brackets);
Simon Russell(Hull), Paul Scott(Huddersfield), Jamie Gleeson (Southampton), Jimmy Turner (Derby) and Adam Flynn(Liverpool). Apparently Flynn was rated at Liverpool, but found the competition too much. Also on trial are youth teamers, Bonnar and Fitter and a French man whose name I would spell wrong. So I'll wait to see if he signs before trying !
One player who Kidder did miss out on was former loan star, JJ Melligan, who has joined up with his former Assistant Boss, John Ward, at Cheltenham Town. JJ signed for a fee of £25,000. After Adam Murray's departure, JJ 's return would have been nice. The midfield is an area which does now need some attention.
Carling Cup
Harriers have been drawn at home to FL Championship side (div one in English!), Cardiff City. This could attract a few more through the gate for the game in late August.
New Sponsors
Harriers announced that local hire firm "Hire It", are the new main sponsors.
