NEWCASTLE United midfielder Jermaine Jenas has withdrawn himself from the England Under-21 squad for the European Championship qualifier in Macedonia.

The 20-year-old starlet has been suffering with his wisdom teeth and will not be flying out to Skopje on Friday.

Charlton striker Carlton Cole will also miss out on the trip wdue to a niggling knee injury.

Both players are likely to return for the crucial second game against Portugal.

"Carlton was named in the squad but won't be joining us for the Macedonia game," said Cooper. "We will also take a look at his situation when we return."

England currently lie third in their group behind unbeaten Turkey, who have played a game more, and Portugal.
