NEWCASTLE United defender Robbie Elliot has rebuffed claims that he turned down a move to Nottingham Forest despite still being at St. James' Park beyond the transfer deadline.

"As I've mentioned in the past, I'd be very interested in moving to a club offering first team football," said Elliot.

"Forest have been mentioned in the past, and there's also another First Division club apparently interested.

"As far as I'm concerned," he said, "I'd listen to what Newcastle have to say. If they can arrange a deal with Forest or the other club, then I'd be happy to move on a loan deal."
