Alan Shearer found the time to comment on Newcastle United's recent performances against Charlton Athletic and all the other games over the cristmas period.

Alan Shearer has blasted his team-mates over their current form and has demanded more from the Newcastle squad. "Two points from nine is just not good enough," said Shearer, who faces a trip to another of his former clubs, Southampton, in the third round of the FA Cup.

Alan Shearer then commented on the game versus Charlton Athletic, "A point at Charlton wasn't bad when you look at what happened to Chelsea at the Valley, but performances in our last two games have been unacceptable.

When asked if Sunday's game had served to identify clearly what his most pressing problem is he said, "I think that's pretty obvious, yes."
