Paul Konchesky To Newcastle????
Left-back Paul Konchesky's return to Charlton could
be a short stay - as Newcastle are reportedly preparing a £2m bid for the
defender.
Konchesky has only just returned to The Valley after a three-month loan spell at Tottenham and featured in the recent wins over Chelsea and Spurs.
And although the 22-year-old Barking-born star is needed by Addicks boss Alan Curbishley due to a rash of injuries, Newcastle are set to try and tempt their Premiership rivals with a cash bid.
The Magpies were strongly linked with a move for Konchesky in the summer, but when that failed to materialise, he went to Spurs on loan - and it appeared that he would stay at White Hart Lane on a permanent basis.
However, his future with the Addicks is still uncertain and if Newcastle do put in an offer, it would likely provoke a similar transfer bid from Tottenham.
Konchesky, who was capped by England in last February's friendly defeat to Australia, has a deal at The Valley which does not expire until summer 2005.
