Ryman Premier League side Aylesbury United have had several first team players walk out on them, including their captain and have been forced to play their reserves.

Aylesbury United were forced to field inexperienced reserves in their gritty 3-3 draw with Bedford Town in the Ryman Premier League after their first team refused to play after a pay dispute.

With relegation already looming, 10 of the first-team squad including captain Greg Williams had walked out, claiming five players had not been paid by chairman Bill Carroll for several weeks.

Peter Remnant and Simon Lacey stepped in as caretaker managers and were forced to play a young side, among the, only a few with first team experiences under their belt.

Lacey said: "Following a meeting with the senior and reserve squads, the first team voted, given the current situation and financial considerations, not to play at St Albans City or against Bedford."
