Chelsea forward Eidur Gudjohnsen has promised that Chelsea's form will come good and that they are still in the title race, despite being in 3rd place with a considerable amount of points between them and the leaders.
Eidur Gudjohnsen has promised that Chelsea woul get back on track and they are still challenging for the title.
Gudjohnsen told PA Sport: "That was a vital win for us, a very important three points. We had to bounce back quickly from the Liverpool defeat. After a run of bad results, you need to show character. That is exactly what we did - and quietly I think everyone believes we can catch the top two."
He continued: "We played some lovely stuff in the first half, then we battled for a 20-minute spell to hold them and then we finished the game off really well.
"We have just got to focus on ourselves, put a strong run of results together. I have no doubt we can be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.
"We have got to make sure that our bad spell is now well and truly gone and hope the other two contenders hit a bad run themselves."
Ranieri was delighted with the response of his side to their recent poor run with late goals from Adrian Mutu and Celestine Babayaro the icing on the cake. He said: "I know there are good and bad moments in a season but for me it was important to check on my players and how they responded in the bad moments.
"In the bad moments, they have answered very well. Against Charlton we switched off but in other matches they have done well.
"Everyone is involved at the club. It is like a family. When everything is right, everyone enjoys it. When it goes wrong, the right families respond in the right way. I wanted to check this and I am happy.
"I am very proud of my players because they are
giving the maximum. They always try to do that. But the players cannot stay at a
high level all the year."
