UEFA yesterday confirmed that the third round first leg would take place at Valerenga's 25,000-capacity Ullevaal Stadium but that they still required the club to name a suitable reserve venue.

"We have asked Valerenga to propose a reserve venue, as this is common practice with any club involved in our competitions and situated where weather conditions may pose a potential problem. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will have further news closer to the match date."

Robson said: "We'll have to wait and see what happens, but to take the tie, if the conditions are not right in 24 hours, to another city 300 miles away is, in my opinion, ludicrous so I would have thought UEFA would step in there.

"I would have thought what they must try and do is find a venue which is fit, based on UEFA standards, and the quicker they decide on that and make the announcement the better, because we are all in limbo at the moment as to where the game is played, and it's a very important game for both clubs."
