Arsene Wenger was today asked if he would be interested in signing West Ham United's young forward Jermaine Defoe and experienced Henrik Larsson.
When asked about signing the young, but
prolific goal-scoring, striker earlier today Wenger admitted: "Defoe is one
of the targets, yes."
Although Defoe has been targetted, it is unlikely that a move for the player
will be made before the summer.
directed towards reports suggesting that
Arsenal had already made a bid, he added : "The valuation is £8million and
I would have offered £5 million? That's not true.
"I have offered nothing for Defoe as we were not in for him. I like him as
a player but I think West Ham cannot let him go now."
Wenger also ruled out a move for Henrik Larsson, even though he is leaving
Scottish giants Celtic this summer.
"He's a good player but he's not the youngest any more. He's a short-term
buy and I don't want to buy strikers over 30," insisted Wenger.
