Carl Cort who recently signed for strugglers Wolverhampton Wanderers made these comments to the media about the time he spent with Newcastle United at St. James' Park.

"I don't think it will come as any surprise to say to Newcastle United fans that they haven't seen the best of me over the last two and a half years. I'm very sad and frustrated about that."

"In my first season I scored seven goals in 15 games, but suffered a bad injury and was never picked regularly again. Injuries certainly played their part and I had some terrible luck, but I want to set the record straight."

"I was not like Marcelino, I wasn't always injured and when I was they were genuine injuries."

"For the past year, I've been playing regularly for the reserves, the manager just didn't pick me. I don't want to have a go at Bobby Robson because he has a difficult job to do. He told me I would be involved in the first team in the summer, which is why I didn't leave then, but I never got that second chance."

"I'm disappointed about that, but I was never happy just to sit in the reserves and collect my wages. I've got more self-respect than that. I wanted to play first team football and I've got that chance now."

"There have been a lot of people who have offered me a lot if support at Newcastle - the manager being one of them - and there have been others who have always wanted to criticise, but it is time to move on."

He then made the following comments about his future at Molineaux with Wolves.

"I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully I will prove to a few people they were wrong about me as well. There were a number of clubs looking to take me on loan, but Wolves wanted to buy me and that filled me with confidence."

"They wanted to buy me last season as well, but Newcastle refused to sell. Now I've got the move and I want to help keep them in the Premiership and kick-start my career as well. I don't see any reason why we cannot do that. I saw them against Liverpool and they are a talented and hardworking side. We've got the ability to stay up. It's a challenge I'm very excited about."
