Forssell hopes to play for Blues again!

That could mean good news for Blues boss Steve Bruce, who would be keen to bring Forssell to St Andrew's for keeps if he recovers his fitness after knee surgery.

Forssell has not had his season-longloantoBlues officially cancelled, but it will be scrapped soon as there is a 'get out' clause that can be activated during January's transfer window.

"It's my dream to be able to pull on a Birmingham shirt this season, that would make me really happy," he said, speaking from Helsinki, where he is recouperating at home.

"At the moment, I am still a Birmingham player so that means when I get fit, I would be able to play for them again. "Of course, I know football is a business and it's really down to what Birmingham and Chelsea end up deciding about my loan.

"I have been told that it is possible I could be back six months from the date of the operation but I will not take any risks, I have to make sure I'm 100 per cent right and I won't put any pressure on myself."

Although Forssell has his heart set on an April comeback, Bruce predicted that, realistically, he doesn't expect to see him in competitive action until 2005-06.

But Bruce admitted he would "re-visit" Forssell's situation in the summer to see if it was feasible to bring him in again, permanently or on loan.

After two major knee operations, Chelsea might be willing to let the once £5million-rated international go for considerably less. Forssell said: "I hadn't heard Brucie had said that, it's nice to know he thinks of me that way. "Birmingham will always be in my heart, I have enjoyed my time with them so much.

"When I get fit and we sit down and look at things in the summer, they might be an option, I just don't know at this moment.Probably,what has happened means that Chelsea have to make a final decision on me. I still have two years left with them after this season and they have to decide whether to keep me or sell me. I think we all need to know."

First, said Forssell, his immediate focus was on recovering from surgery around the articular cartilage in his left knee. He is currently using a constant passive motion machine, which extends and strengthens his leg, for at least eight hours every day.

"My injury came as a massive shock," he admitted, "but you have to try and accept that these things happen, it's a hazard of the profession I'm in.

"I am getting expert treatment and the messages and cards of support I have had from Birmingham, Chelsea and their fans have helped me."
