Muzzy Izzet Is Enjoying His New Life At Birmingham

Blues midfielder Muzzy Izzet has revealed he's enjoying his new career in the Midlands. Izzet moved to blues from Leicester in the Summer but injury has kept him from establishing himself in the heart of the Blues midfield.

Muzzy Izzet has had an indifferent start to his Birmingham career. The
ex-Leicester midfielder started the season in the centre of midfield along side
Robbie Savage and seemed to be the quality midfielder that the blues had missed
for so long. But when Savage was suspended for his elbow on Mateja Kezman in the Chelsea game, Izzet was paired with Damien Johnson in the middle of the park and failed to shine in what was a below par blues side. Izzet then got his first goal for his new club in the away draw against Bolton. Izzet scored a well worked goal to equalise just after the half time interval. This combined with a good second half performance by both the team and Izzet, who was playing as the man off the striker, raised expectation in the blues camp. But in the next game against Newcastle, Izzet was injured whilst making a tackle on Olivier Bernard. It was feared that Izzet would miss up to six months out with suspected knee ligament damage but the scans revealed no problems and it was simply a case of a twisted knee that would keep Izzet out for a week or two. But weeks have turned to months and Izzet is still not available for selection. "It's been annoying but I should be back pretty soon. "I'm back in full training and the knee is okay, it's just that I still have some fluid on it which is the only thing that is causing me problems. "It's frustrating but to be fair I've been lucky with injuries throughout my career. "I was quite lucky with this injury too because it could have been a lot worse. There were fears that I had suffered ligament damage when I was stretchered off against Newcastle." He is hoping to be back for the trip to Anfield on Saturday and Izzet is looking forward to getting back in the side and back in the middle alongside Robbie Savage. "It's been great to be back playing alongside Sav. You need someone like him in your team because you need to be up for these games in the top flight. "He is certainly always up for it and hopefully it rubs off on the rest of us. "He's like the heartbeat - he makes the team tick and gets everyone up for it." Although Izzet has missed the last few games, and the fact the blues aren't playing their best as of late, Izzet seems to be thoroughly enjoying his new surroundings.
