An Ode To The Birmingham Derby Day's!

An great little poem about the Birmingham City vs Aston Villa Derby Days written by Pewster of Redditch to celebrate the blues fifth game undefeated against their Villa rivals. A must read for all you blues fans!

I've read a lot of comments here, all filled with doom and gloom,
How Sav and Bruce have lost the plot, and both should now make room,
But there's a reason they should stay here, and it really is a killer,
Just take a look and marvel, at their record verse the Villa !

It started at the back end, of the year two thou and two,
A game you will remember, if your blood is truely blue,
When our dreams were surely answered, we already led by one,
When Enk became our hero, and our bluenose figure of fun !

The Horse added the iceing, upon our Bluenose cake,
Three nil to the Blue Boys, we were back, make no mistake,
And Olof's pre match comments, were now ringing in his ears,
'Dont know who their players are', he knew now, have no fears !

So next was off to Villa Park, in March of the next year,
We travelled over hopeful that, we'd cause them more despair,
Then cue our Hero Robbie, with his customary strut,
He wound up Dion just enough, to make him drop the nut !

And up against the ten men, we made their faces redder,
When Kenna crossed into the box, for Skippy with a header,
But still it wasn't over, we could add a bit more pain,
And what made it even better, it was Enkleman again !

He gifted Horse the second, and still the lads had time,
to get GudJohnson off as well, reducing them to nine,
We even finished off the game, with Horse between the sticks,
But never looked as if we'd leak, a goal against those Prlcks !

And then another season, and St Andrews was the stage,
They'd bought in D O'Dreary, and they thought they'd come of age,
They battened down the hatches, and we heard the Villa roar,
You'd have thought they'd won the FA Cup, not got a goaless draw !

So back again to Villa Park, where they were on a roll,
It really could be four or five, when they got their second goal,
The Blues looked so disjointed, that surely we would lose,
Then up pops Forssel with a goal, and theres new hope for the Blues !

And as the seconds tick away, were into added time,
Then Pursey hits a hopeful punt, from on the halfway line,
Forssel heads it onwards, Clinton trys a shot,
Thomas palms the ball away, to Johnny on the spot !

The final whistle blows so quick, weve gone and drawn the game,
We came, we saw, we conquered, and we never lost again,
We know we didnt beat them, but to equalise so late,
We kept the citys bragging rights, and everything felt great !

So next up its this season, and to Villa Park again,
The Villa team are flying, and Blues are on the wane,
Mellberg opens up his gob, to stoke the fires once more,
But Clintons got the answer, when he saunters through to score !

Admittedly he had a hand, from Sorensen in goal,
But did we really give a damn, the Blues were on a roll,
Then only minutes later, Jonty launched it to attack,
Clinton held the ball up well, then gave it Jonty back !

He skipped past De La Cruz, then you heard the Holte End moan,
As Jontys cross found Dunny, and he stroked the second home,
The lads were on the rampage, and when halftime did arrive,
We all wondered why we led by two, it could easily be five !

The second half we hung on, just content to watch the clock,
With Savage as the Engine room, and Upson as our rock,
And despite their consolation, of Gareth Barry getting one,
We knew they'd never equalise, cause they hadn't got Stern John !

And so we have the reason, why Sav and Bruce should stay,
Five games against the Villa, and seven points away,
So all I'll say to end this ode, to all of those pursuing,
Is a take a leaf from Villa Park, and cheer instead of Booing !
