Bruce looking for striker?

According to reports Birmingham are set to snatch a preston striker right from underneath everton`s noses as they have been tracking his progress.

The striker is David Nugent who two seasons ago was playing in league 2 with Bury , he has an impressive scoring record, while at the minute being Prestons top scorer with 5 goals in 15 games.


Birmingham have reportedly joined Everton in the chase for Preston striker David Nugent.

The Mirror claim that Blues boss Steve Bruce is thinking over making a £2,000,000 bid for the 20-year-old PNE striker.

Preston boss Billy Davies recently rejected rumours that Nugent was set for a January exit from Deepdale.

But Birmingham could test the water with a bid in the new year.


Billy Davies was quick to dismiss the transfer talks:-

Preston boss Billy Davies has blasted speculation suggesting David Nugent will be sold on when the transfer window opens.

The highly-rated striker is attracting plenty of interest from Premiership clubs and Birmingham are said to be preparing a January bid.

Despite all the speculation, Davies insists Nugent will be staying on board to help with North End's push for promotion.

"David Nugent is going nowhere," Davies revealed. "As far as I'm concerned David Nugent is very much part of our plans for the next couple of years.

"I spoke to him a couple of days ago and we talked about players leaving clubs too early and we both know that he still has an awful lot to learn, but the one big plus is that he is more than willing to learn.

"I have no doubt that Nugent, and one or two other young lads, will eventually outgrow Preston North End but as far as I'm concerned it won't be during this transfer window and not for a couple of years yet.

"It's all speculation and we can't prevent things from going in the papers and we can't prevent people from talking about our good players."
