16th defeat of season leaves blues in the relegations zone after a battling performance from the riverside, blues are left dissapointed.

Birmingham City slumped to there 16th defeat of the season, as they go 1-0 down to middlesbrough at the riverside stadium.

Early on Heskey had the best chance as he nipped between two Boro` defenders only to head hooribly wide, not long later david Dunn battled well and got a shot off on goal only to be saved from mark Schwarzer.


Yakubu then had the best chance all game as he took it past 2 blues defenders and had a 1 on 1 chance and missed by scraping the far post. just before the break Boro` made Birmingham pay when alex bruce failed to stay goal side of Mark Viduka who jinx past him then faked out Taylor to slot boro in front.

Straight after the break Blues could have drawn level if it wasnt for the superb reflexes of  Schwarzer as dunn had a powerful header blocked by the austrailian international. That was all of the major action , but as Bruce wanted to change the way of the game DJ came on to replace Dunn , DJ made no real impact as the game finished 1-0 to Boro`

We're missing that cutting edge to get that crucial goal. That is four or five times when we've been in the game and we haven't scored.

"We had four or five goalscoring opportunities and we didn't take them. That has been our biggest problem.

"We didn't deserve to lose this game, because I think we were by far the better team."
