STATEMENT

Following reports that have appeared in two of today's national newspapers linking Jermaine Pennant with a move to Liverpool, Birmingham City wishes to clarify the situation for its own fans.

Birmingham have not received an offer of any kind from Liverpool for the player and neither does it expect one.

Managing director Karren Brady has spoken to her counterpart Ricky Parry at Liverpool and informed him that Jermaine Pennant is not for sale.

Reacting to today's stories, Brady wants to reassure supporters that the club is determined to keep hold of its best players to give us the best chance of returning to the Premiership at the first attempt.

Brady said: "We want to get out of this division as soon as possible.

"Therefore we will be buying players and not selling them as our aim is to go into the Championship with the best squad in the league."
