Student sevens players wanted for RFU/BUCS festivals
Student rugby players are invited to show off their sizzling sevens skills in the 2010 RFU/BUCS Regional Student Sevens Festivals.
As part of the RFU’s Play On campaign there are five festivals of sevens rugby in April and May open to any institute which is a member of BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport).
Rugby-playing students of all abilities below first-team level can get involved and smash it up at the regional festivals in London, Exeter, Leamington Spa and Sedgley Park.
Sunday, April 25 sees the London & South East regional festival at Hackney Marshes, the North festival at Sedgley Park RUFC, and the Midlands festival at Old Leamingtonians RFC.
The South West regional festival will be held at the University of Exeter, Duckes Meadow, on Wednesday April 28.
University first-team players are directed towards the national finals at Chinnor Rugby Club in Buckinghamshire on Saturday May 1, which will also include qualifying teams from the regional festivals.
Entries are open to men’s and women’s teams, and the closing date for applications is Thursday, April 15. Each team entry is £20 with £10 returnable deposit following participation.
Visit the Regional Student Sevens Festivals event page on the BUCS website for more details and how to take part. Alternatively, email Matt Judson, BUCS Sports Programme Manager, at Matt.judson@bucs.org.uk
