In its third year, the Dallaglio Cycle Slam is a highly acclaimed fundraising event that sees 300 dedicated riders commit to cycling ambitious European routes in June 2014.

The Dallaglio Cycle Slam is all about challenge, camaraderie and teamwork, but most importantly it’s fun. The partners we bring on board create an incredibly special atmosphere, and almost everyone comes back for more.

I am always proud to see how many people join me on this epic challenge and also humbled by the commitment of our wonderful partners: Pizza Express, Causeway, Halfords, Bidvest Logistics, Catermasters and new to Slam, Kukri.

As always, we set ourselves a target to raise over £1m. This will go towards funding our work using rugby to help vulnerable young people tackle life's challenges. People like Kigh, who has been part of our social inclusion project. Pupil Referral Units, which works with young people to give them greater self-belief, positive life choices and become more employable.

Kigh has been attending frequent rugby sessions run by the Dallaglio Foundation and since then, his behaviour has significantly improved.

He says, “Rugby has taught me how to be a man. I’ve changed. My attitude has got better and I’ve matured. I have gotten my head down, and now I listen to the teachers. They’ve said I’ve improved a lot and I’m pleased with myself.”

I saw Kigh recently, and he is keen to join his local rugby club - I'm sure he will be a great addition with an improved attitude that has been shaped by the values of the game.

We still have some places left and I want to offer this opportunity to the rugby community who understand the power our sport has to help young people. Join me on any of the stages below.  Listen, if Martin Johnson, Austin Healey and I can get on a bike and ride – anyone can!  Otherwise you can help motivate me and help us hit our first million by donating through the link below.

Stage 1 Italy

Leaving the walled city of Treviso you will make your way over 4 days through stunning scenery to St Moritz, following a route that has been a long-time favourite of the Giro d’Italia and training grounds for many of the world's best riders.

Stage 2 Switzerland

This stage takes in picturesque mountain villages and lakes using some of the Tour of Switzerland route.  Not as tough as Italy and France, but still with some climbs, this is a stunning stage ending up in Chamonix.

Stage 3 France

The ultimate ride. The Les Deux Alpes! If this isn’t on your bucket list as a cyclist, then it should be! We will be tackling the most celebrated route in cycling, included in stages of both Le Tour and the Giro d’Italia, as well as the Marmotte and Etape du Tour. (Rest assured that the last day is a lovely flat run into Chambery!)

Stage 4 England

Known as the 'glory leg', we are really excited about this route as we get to ride the first two days of the UK leg of the Tour de France, two weeks before the big event! Taking in the Yorkshire Dales and then riding down to finish at Twickenham, on this leg you can join us for the full 5 days or come for just a couple.
