England v France 22/8/2015 Post Match Thoughts

England put out what was thought to be a strong side against France and they were blown off the park. The Chariot  lost it's wheels BIG STYLE this time.

France 25 v 20 England
Saturday 22nd August 2015 - Stade de France

What an abysmal display from a England International Rugby Team. Lancaster said they looked "Rusty", he has to be kidding hasn't he? They were shocking, they looked exhausted after just thirty minutes. They were ponderous, amateurish and frankly an embarrassment to English rugby.   Unfortunately I don't think Lancaster has it in him to use the big brush and sweep out the coasters and he will go with his favourites as usual.

Contrast this team to the one that played the previous week at Twickenham................that team had energy, enthusiasm and sparkle. They made things happen as a unit and played with a verve that England had not seen in a while.

Saturday, was dreadful! And it is no good putting subs on with only 20 mins to go, they should have been on at half time or even sooner.  Personally as a fan, I feel let down and unable to forgive the lack of discipline from top class athletes, it is just not on! Dan Cole in particular, every time he plays he gives away penalties, this man will cost us in the Rugby World Cup.

When the subs., did come on what a difference, I almost felt we might make a draw of the game, Huge credit to those who did come on in particular Danny Cipriani and Easter.   I also think Haskell once again played his heart out.

Englands James Haskell (3rd left) is tackled by Frances Damien Chouly (2nd left)

Well folks sorry to disappoint anyone but England will not be winning the Rugby World Cup, I will put a bet on that right now.  Gosh I would so like to be wrong on this but I just know in my heart it is not going to happen.

All nations would have been watching that game on Saturday and laughing their heads off, in particular Fiji, Wales and Australia and maybe even Uruguay.    Well I hope the players and management) enjoy watching the game back to see how far they fell and RFU you will not encourage young people into the game with performances like that!

Why focus on Cole? He gave away one penalty. On his day he's one of the world's best tightheads. Why not bring up Marler who struggled big time and gave away three penalties, or Billy Vunipola who gave away FOUR and was utterly useless for 60 minutes.

It was their first hit out of the season, against a quality French side. Better to have a wake up call now than against Wales.

Yes perhaps it was wrong to go for Cole soley but since he has come back from injury months ago he has given penalties away each time he has played.

Yes the French were good no denying that, and will be a force to be wreckond with.

And yes a wake up call but hey at this stage should they rally need a wake up call.

They should all of them have been eager to save their places in the team especially after how well the previous team did at Twicks.

All players give away penalties, Vunipola gave away four for instance, but why not mention the penalty that Cole WON for England that gave us our first three points of the match? Anyway, I agree it was probably the poorest performance of Lancaster's tenure. Easily the worst by our pack in many many years.

Well let's hope they have had the wake up call and do much better against Ireland. At least then we will all know who is in the final 31 squad.
