Reading Vs Millwall Preview

The Royals welcome Millwall to the Madejski Stadium for what will be a massive match as both teams go in search of a playoff spot. This week Millwall confirmed Dennis Wise as the new player-manager with his No2 being former England star Ray Wilkins. Expect a difficult match for the Royals

Reading have an injury list which is getting bigger by the week. The Royals will be without captain Adie Williams who went off injured in last Saturday's 1-0 win over Wigan. He will undergo surgery today which keeps him out for around 4-6 weeks. Steve Brown and John Mackie are still recovering from surgery. We expect Steve Coppell to go with a centre back partnership of Ivar Ingimarrson and former Millwall player Ricky Newman. An added problem is that Royals winger Scott Murray will not play tomorrow. The Scottish Winger picked up a knock on the knee last Saturday and isn't expected to play, however should be ready for the clash with West Brom next Saturday. His place is expected to go to either Andy Hughes or Bas Savage. Its expected Steve Sidwell will be back in midfield, at the expense of either Hughes or Harper. Shaun Goater is expected to start with Nicky Forster up front. The ex Man City forward hasn't scored since the home win over Preston North End on the 18th October. The Royals are also likely to start with Greame Murty as captain. The right back is the longest serving player at the moment, who is in his 6th season with Reading. New Millwall boss Dennis Wise also has injury problems,this time up front.Neil Harris,Noel Whealen and Mark McCammon are injured while Belgium striker Bob Peeters is suspended.The only fit striker is Kevin Braniff and his partner is likely to be Paul Ifill.Another injury problem for the Lions is that defender Paul Robinson will sadly miss the rest of the season due to a cruciate knee injury.Stuart Nethercott will start alongside Darren Ward. Form Reading go into the match on the back of a 1-0 victory over promotion rivals Millwall.
