Reading's promotion bid was dealt a major blow with the news that star striker Nicky Forster requires stomach surgery rulling him out for another 4 to 6 weeks. But Forster is expected to be back towards the end of the season.

Its the news all Royals fans didn't want to hear.Nicky Forster's injury will certainly have a major affect on Reading's promotion bid.

Forster has been struggling with the injury since Christmas and now will undergo surgery tomorrow in Manchester by a top surgeon. He will be missing for 4-6 weeks.

It doesn't come as a major surprise that Forster misses out.The striker has carried Reading and the strikeforce on his shoulder for 3 years now with no real strike partner.

But Steve Coppell won't be too upset.Recently Shaun Goater has found the form which saw him become a true Man City legend while playing up north.Lloyd Owusu has made a good impact but he is to serve a 3 game suspension after being sent off in the 2-1 defeat to Preston North End,while Dave Kitson is coming on leeps and bounds since his move from Cambridge.
