Owusu signs on the dotted line

Lloyd Owusu has signed for Reading from Sheffield Wednesday for an undiclosed fee after a succesfull loan spell with the Berkshire club.Owusu has netted 4 times since joining just before Christmas and will add power to the Royals front line.

Lloyd Owusu is now a Royals player. On a day when we should be happy he has signed I can't help but feel angered over the Scott Murray deal.

Lloyd signs after a successful loan spell with the Royals is which he netted 4 goals. He signs for an undisclosed fee after leaving Sheffield Wednesday where he suffered a tough time with injuries and pressures of playing for a massive club. He signed for them in the summer of 2002 after a spell with Brentford where he played his trade under Reading boss Steve Coppell.

His performances have been very encouraging. He signed just before Christmas and made his debut in the 3-0 humiliating defeat to Wimbledon on Boxing day. He was the only positive too come out of that shambolic Christmas performance. He then made his full debut in the 1-1 draw with Walsall, impressing Steve Coppell and the Royals travelling fans with his ability to win headers and use his pace to great effect.

Before long he got his 1st goal in Royals colours in the 1-1 draw with Joe Royle's Ipswich Town. A cracking header from a cracking Scott Murray cross. He appeared to have settled and continued up front with Shaun Goater while Nicky Forster was out with a stomach injury and keeping Dave Kitson on the bench.

But a dark cloud appeared in the 2-1 defeat to Preston North End on the 2nd March. Owusu was sent off after a reckless striker's challenge with saw a straight red card. Owusu missed the win over Cardiff City, the defeat to Sunderland and will miss Saturday's clash with Coventry City.

But the next game he was the hero as he scored 2 goals in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

But Director of Football Nicky Hammond has now struck a deal with Owls boss Chris Turner, who is desperately looking to decrease the Wednesday wage bill.
