Savage set to sign new deal

Bas Savage will sign a new 1 year deal at the Madejski Stadium next week after agreeing terms.Savage was one of many players who's contract expires at the end of June but Steve Coppell believes the front man can have a part to play here next season.

Bas Savage looks set to become the 4th player this week to commit himself to the club after verbally agreeing a new 1 year deal at the Madejski Stadium.

The 6ft 4 striker has been at the club since 2002 after signing from Walton and Hermsham. He made his 1st Team debut in the promotion clinching match at Brentford. But his 2002/2003 season was wrecked before the league started after sustaining a nasty cruciate knee injury in the pre season tour to Germany.

But this season he has managed to find some form under the management of Steve Coppell and has played a total of 17 times this season, but in patches. He finished the season well with good solid displays against Millwall and West Bromwich Albion.

Director of Football Nicky Hammond has described the next 12 months for Bas as a "make or break" season.

Hammond also confirmed their have been no other developments regarding Jamie Ashdown and Ricky Newman.

Another person committing his future at the club today was the First Team physio Jon Fearn. He has signed a new 4 year deal keeping him at the Madejski Stadium until the 2007/2008 season. He arrived in the 2001/2002 season after being the number 2 physio at West Ham.

Fearn has had a busy season with players such as Nicky Forster, Steve Brown and Adie Williams missing large chunks of it.
