Brentford ace to join the Royals

Steve Coppell looks set to complete the transfer of Brentford central defender, Ibrahima Sonko. There will be no fee involved although the player is under the age of 24.

| Sonko becomes another former Brentford player to come to the Madejski stadium; others include the likes of Steven Sidwell, Lloyd Owusu and Ivar Ingimarsson. The news will please many Royals followers after little transfer activity so far with other rivals signing a number of players before the beginning of July. It also means Royals have still not spent any of the £1 Million+ given to Steve Coppell to spend this summer although some of this money had to go towards the players wages. It still remains to be seen whether or not another defender will be brought to the club with Steve Brown still unclear whether he will be able to play again and Adie Williams now coming towards the end of his career. Callum Davenport has been linked with the club, though the Coventry defender will demand a fee, which is proving a stumbling block according to the Evening Post. Another reported player who has been lined up by Coppell is highly rated Doncaster Midfielder, Michael McIndoe. The player was a key member in the Doncaster team that won promotion to League 1 last season after moving from Yeovil the season before.
