Goater out for a month

Royals striker Shaun Goater will be out of action for at least a month following a calf injury.The former Manchester City striker limped out of Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Leeds United,and now becomes the 2nd striker in recent weeks to be injured,after Nicky Forster picked up a groin injury.

Shaun Goater will be out of action for at least a month after sustaining a calf injury in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Leeds United.

The Goat had just began to get a run in the Royals side after first choice striker Nicky Forster was ruled out for a couple of weeks with a groin injury.

But now Goater will join his team-mate Forster on the sidelines after a recurrence of a calf injury he picked up in the summer while on International duty with Bermuda.

Goater's injury opens the door to Lloyd Owusu to stake his claim for a place in the side. Owusu replaced Goater on Tuesday and made an immediate impact by scoring the equaliser.

It leaves manager Steve Coppell with only 3 fit strikers in Dave Kitson and Dean Morgan.

However it's highly unlikely that Coppell will dive into the transfer market to bring a loan replacement.
