Coventry target skipper Williams

Coventry City are interested in signing Royals transfer listed skipper Adie Williams.

The 33 year old defender is currently on the transfer list after the club told Williams that contract negotiations would not start for the defender until February next year.

And with Williams available for transfer, Peter Reid wants to take him to Coventry as he looks to tighten up his defence, who conceded 3 goals in midweek against a second string Middlesbrough side in the 3rd Round of the Carling Cup.

But any move for Williams will be put on hold until after tomorrow's match between the 2 sides at Highfield Road.

Williams had been in discussions with Brian Tinnion's Bristol City, however a move appears to have fallen through because the defender had concerns over the travelling.

Williams is fit again after a hamstring injury sustained in the 1-1 draw at Ipswich which has put him on the sidelines for a month now.

However Steve Coppell looks set to keep faith with the same 11 who put 4 goals past Crewe last week.
