Murty faces spell on sidelines

Murty got injured after a 50/50 ball with Wanderers striker Dean Sturridge.

Following assessments made by physio Jon Fearn, it was revealed that Murty has damaged medial knee ligaments in his knee.

Fearn told the official website;

"He's damaged medial knee ligaments on the inside of his knee and his ankle as well, and he'll be out for 3 weeks or so.

Both the ankle and the knee injuries are about the same as each other. He'll probably be running within a week or so but it's striking the ball that will be the problem."

Another player to have gone off injured on Saturday was the Royals leading goal scorer Dave Kitson.

The former Cambridge front man complained on a tight hamstring at half time and he was replaced immediately by Lloyd Owusu.

However he is in with a good chance of featuring at Leicester. Jon Fearn said on Kitson's injury;

"He felt him hamstring start to fatigue late in the first half so we took him off.

He's no worse than he was on Friday, he's still a bit tender and he had a hard week training last week.

In terms of Leicester we hope he'll be ok and again we have to be careful to minimise any potential damage."

With Murty facing a spell on the sidelines, it's likely that manager Steve Coppell will be looking at either a loan or permanent signing within the next couple of days. However should he be unsuccessful, Ricky Newman will deputise at full back.
