Brooker started his career in West London with Fulham, where he made 70 appearances at Craven Cottage under Micky Adams, scoring 6 goals as he helped Fulham get promoted from Division 3 in the 1997/1998 season.

But after Mohammed Al-Fayed took over, Adams left and Brooker was frozen out of the first team and spent a spell on loan at Stevenage Borough.

Adams then showed his faith in Brooker's ability by paying Fulham £25,000 to take him to Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2000 after he went on a loan spell at the Withdean.

Brooker enjoyed great success, picking up both a Division 3 and Division 2 winners medal, and he was part of the Brighton team that beat Reading to the title.

But Brooker was to suffer the following season as Steve Coppell's side were relegated to Division 2 after a final day heartache at the already relegated Grimsby. Brighton needed to win and were relying on Reading to beat Stoke to stand any chance of avoiding the drop. Reading however lost 1-0 to City and Brighton were held to a 2-2 draw.

Brooker was on the move again after his contract expired. Micky Adams paid the biggest compliment he could have ever paid him by taking him to his promoted Leicester City.

However Brooker never really got a run in the side and was later loaned to Reading in February 2004. He then had his contract mutually terminated and it's at Reading where he plays his football now.
