At the age of just 15, he became the youngest footballer ever to play in a CONCAF qualifier when he appeared for USA's Under 17 side.

The following season he made 47 appearances, scoring 2 goals. He was part of USA's Under 17 side that came 4th in the World Under 17 Championship's in New Zealand.

His performances impressed many, and was the youngest ever played to be signed by the MLS for DC United. He played 18 times that season, contributing with 2 assets.

Convey made his debut for the USA National side when just aged 20 in 2000 against Mexico on the 25th October.

In 2002, he won the US Young Male Athlete of the Year award, which is his biggest success achieved so far.

In 2003, Spurs came calling and despite a fee being agreed with the MLS and the player agreeing terms with the club, Convey failed in his attempt's to get a work permit and his boyhood dreams of playing in England were temporarily shattered.

But a year later, Reading declared there interest in Convey and and an undisclosed fee was agreed, believed to be in the region of $1.5million.

It's with great praise to John Madejski, Nigel Howe, Nick Hammond and Steve Coppell that they managed to pull of 1 of the biggest coup's in Reading's 132 year history.

Bobby is a versaitile player who can play either on the left wing, centre midfield or at left back.

Despite finding the opening months difficult, Bobby has recently shown glimpses of the huge array of talent he processes and is certainly 1 player for the future.
