HAHNEMANN UNUSED AS US WIN

Eddie Johnson of Dallas and Preston North End winger Eddie Lewis were on target for the US, who were grateful to first choice keeper Kasey Keller for keeping them in the game with some fantastic saves.

Johnson gave the US the lead on 30 minutes after heading home a Steve Cherundolo cross.

Then Hahnemann's best mate in football Lewis, doubled the lead 9 minutes into the 2nd half with a 25 yard shot. The Preston North End winger has been in great form recently, playing a huge part in Preston's rise up the Championship under Billy Davies.

A deflected Anton Pierre shot in the 89th minute wasn't enough for Trinidad and Tobago, who lined up with 2 former Royals players in the side.

Shaka Hislop lasted the full 90 minutes while Anthony Rougier came off at half time. Hislop is currently at Portsmouth, where he is expected to leave in the summer while Rougier plays his trade in China.

Reading's over American star Bobby Convey didn't receive a call up as expected, and will now be looking to prove to US Head Coach Bruce Arena he was wrong in dropping him from the squad.

Hahnemann will now be returning to the UK straight away with the Royals facing a huge 6 pointer at giants Leeds United this Saturday.
